Foundation Day of Nagaland State observed in Assam

GUWAHATI, DECEMBER 4 (MExN):  As part of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, Raj Bhavan Assam in the presence of Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya celebrated the foundation day of Nagaland in Kar Bhawan Auditorium on December 3.

A press release from the Raj Bhavan, Assam said that in his address, Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya said, “Nagaland, nestled in the picturesque north eastern region of India, is a land rich in natural beauty, diverse traditions and heritage.” He said that the people of Nagaland, with their deep-rooted traditions, embody courage, hard work, and a profound connection with nature. The State’s cultural heritage is preserved through rituals, festivals, and art forms that have been passed down through generations.

A major highlight of Nagaland’s cultural calendar is the renowned Hornbill Festival. This festival is a symbol of the unity and pride of the Naga people and offers a unique opportunity to witness the rich cultural diversity of the State, he added. 

The Governor also spoke on Rani Gaidinliu, who played a significant role in the independence movement. “Her courageous efforts in resisting British colonial rule are a lasting source of inspiration for all Indians,” he stated. 

It may be mentioned that the celebration of Nagaland’s Foundation Day aligns with the larger vision of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” an initiative led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

The event was attended by Director General of Police, Assam Gyanendra Pratap Singh, Chairman, Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor SS Meenakshi Sundaram, Additional Advocate General, Nagaland Tsibu Khro, Deputy Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House, Guwahati Ilika Zhimomi along with a host of other dignitaries.
