The cost for the camp was sponsored by Hukamchand, Prabhatchand, Anil Kumar, Sarita Devi Tongya and the Tongya family.

On the occasion, Narendra Jain, Secretary of SD Jain Charitable Clinic shared that for the past four months, the Clinic had been advertising this event across all platforms of the media due to which, a total of 57 individuals registered for the camp. ‘There are also 13 other individuals who are in the waiting list as they were unable to register on time,’ he said.

He further added that, ‘Medical specialists from the Rotary Club of Kolkata have come to give treatment for the beneficiaries during the camp as well.’

‘We hope that this charity event will be of great help for the beneficiaries and that they will be able to live normal lives free of burden,’ he shared.

While interacting with some of the beneficiaries at the event, T H Esmael, who lost an upper limb during a freak electrocution accident, shared that he has been living with his disability for the last six months. He narrated, ‘I was an electrician in my village, and I lost an arm during one of the repair works.’ Further adding that, he was unable to procure the prosthetic limbs by himself because they were very expensive. ‘So through the Ministry of Labour & Employment, we made contact with the organisers and that is how we came here today,’ he said.

Another individual, Aienla, came for the camp because she had lost both her lower and upper limbs in a car accident some 23 years ago. Aienla also mentioned that through an NGO, she was able to get prosthetics for her lower limbs initially in 2006. ‘Today I came here to get one of the prosthetic arms,’ she stated.
