Nagas of the Christian state, Nagas of the missionary land, Nagas of the Nagaland for Christ: The almighty god, the creator and the sustainer of the Nagas has a controversy with them- a terrible question; “what has thou done ? the voice of thy brother’s blood cried unto me from the ground”
We, the Nagas are doing things as we like overtly or covertly without any fear of God’s judgement and accountability to men. But god is going to judge everything we do. Whether good or bad, even things done in secret. God maintain a book of record of what we say and do. God has a computer website which he will open on the day of judgement.
The books (Malachi 3:16) and the book of life shall be opened and the holy god will judge us accordingly to our works (rev 20:12) “….we shall all stand before the judgement seat of Christ.” Rom 14:10)
The source of power
Who has given you the power to govern? The lord Jesus said, “all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” Mtt. 28:18.therefore the source of your power is from the lord Jesus. If you misused that power you will be judge by god. You may ignore and avoid your accountability to the people who voted you to power as they repose their trust in you. But a day will catch you up and you will face a day of Judgement. Heb (9:27)
One Rev.C.A. Roberts received a call from his sister in Balas Texas after the U.S. President Kennedy was assassinated. His sister said to him, “It does not matter what was in the mind of the man who killed the President. There were many of us who carried in our hearts tiny little seeds of violence. We have said openly and privately things that were negative and hurtful. By our conversation and attitudes, we created an atmosphere in our community where murder was not an unreasonable act.” It is not the same kind of social and political atmosphere that we have in Naga community today? Rarely is the act of murder is committed by us, yet within the citizenry there are tiny seeds of hatred and violence. The destructive elements are constantly at work, creating an atmosphere where cold blooded murder and killings is not unreasonable act. All of us who entertain a hurtful attitude and do nothing about it, share the guilt with the one who does the act.
If life is worth living, it is also worth protecting. In the final analysis, both individually and collectively, the only preventive against the act of violence is a proper attitude. There is no law in the state that can protect us from our attitude. These we must determine for ourselves by setting our lives right with God. None of us can pre determine the life of another. We can however dedicate ourselves to the protection of life from the destructive process, attitudes and atmosphere that can creep into our Naga society. For only then can life be worth living for ourselves and others too.
A Life worth living
For a life to be worth living, one must be alive. Therefore the right to live must be protected for ourselves and others too. God’s law is, for life to be worth living, one must live and let others live. Biblically, “thou shall not kill.” Have you got a right to live? Do you accept that your brother, your sister or any other person have a right to live? The answer is “YES”, then for mutual benefit, you and the other, both should agree to live and let live. For the reason best known to Nagas, we are today sunk in monstrous fratricidal killings. Thousands of Nagas have lost their precious life. The wicked game is mutual destruction, a total negation of Naga Political Aspirations. Is the Naga survival solely dependent on mutual destruction of life? If the Nagas must survive as people with their distinct identity and uniqueness then they must come out from the cells of self- centredness, must sink differences, reconcile to forgive and forget the past and unite to live and let live.
The factional fighting should be stopped and a ceasefire among the faction should be made immediately. The desperate need of the Nagas is to have a ceasefire amongst the different sections of the people. All forms of hostility and violence must be stopped and an atmosphere of peace should be ushered in, ensuring freedom of movement and contact in the state. All the nationalist leaders must be enabled to move freely, meet freely and discuss relating to the future of the Nagas. In order to remove all doubts and misgivings, a general amnesty should be declared by the Government of India and allow the Naga Nationalists and the Naga public to seriously search for a lasting peace and solution of the Naga problem. The Nagas deserve their legitimate demand as of a right blessed with peace, progress and prosperity. To realize this political heritage it entirely lies with the Nagas, none others. God bless the Nagas.
