Kohima, October 16 (MExN): A GST workshop was conducted by the Central GST Commissionerate Dimapur in collaboration with Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland, NAGABOTS Incubation Centre and R Abraham & Associates at Hotel Ura, Kohima on October 16.

The workshop was meant to educate professionals involved in event management, media, wedding planning and photography on how GST applies to their businesses, stated a press release.

It stated that GST at the rate of 18% is applicable for services provided by event managers, wedding planners or photographers if their yearly business turnover exceeds the threshold limit of Rs 10 lakh. Hence, a business whose annual turnover exceeds Rs 10 lakh has to mandatorily register under GST and begin to charge GST to their customers which is then to be paid to the government every month along with filing of GST Returns.

Er Keneirienuo K Theünuo, Deputy Director & StartUp Nagaland Team Leader, delivered the introductory note. The resource persons Sashi Wapang Lanu (IRS), Additional Commissioner, and Rohan Abraham, Chartered Accountant spoke on the Basics of GST, its applicability, functioning, dispelling common misconceptions, significance of accounting and bookkeeping, maintaining a track record, and understanding Input Tax Credit.

The session also addressed numerous inquiries related to GST, income tax, and related subjects. The workshop concluded with an engaging question and answer session, during which 27 registered members participated, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.
