Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): The Nagaland NGOs Forum (NNF) on Tuesday submitted a representation to the Chief Minister of Nagaland appealing the government for improvement of service delivery mechanisms in the combat against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The representation appended by NNF President Dr Hesheto Y Chishi and General Secretary Chenithung Humtsoe also claimed that “there has been so many injustice in the relief COVID 19 rice distribution,’ and called for transparency in fund allocation for relief distribution. “In many colonies, equal distribution per person could not be maintained due to shortage of supplies. Moreover, other than rice, there were no other essential commodities given,” it alleged.
It also claimed that especially in Dimapur, other than NGOs and civil society organizations, “no government officials are involved in the ground for relief and food distribution,” and viewed that “government paid officials should also be equally involved.”
Further, the Forum appealed the government to “speed up the test lab for COVID-19 and provide proper safety measures and trained technicians for the work at the earliest.” It also asked the government to set up well equipped and standard ICU for COVID-19 treatment instead of referring them to far-off cities and state for treatment.
Provide adequate protection and safety kits to all the NGOs and CSOs in the frontline doing relief work every day, the Forum appealed as it pointed out the urgency of the need to work collectively for the welfare for the state.
