Kigwema, August 17 (MExN): The Japfü Christian College (JCC), Kigwema, celebrated the graduation of its Class of 2026 on August 17 at the ZAPA Indoor Stadium.
The ceremony honoured graduates from six departments, Economics, Education, English, Political Science, History, and Sociology with degrees conferred through the college’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), an update received here stated.
The commencement address was delivered by Bodenos S Colo, NCS, Commissioner and Secretary of the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Nagaland. She reflected on the college as a place where faith, education, character, and service come together. Colo encouraged the graduates to face a rapidly changing world with courage, humility, compassion, resilience and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Reminding the graduates that their degrees were only the beginning, she urged them to use their knowledge, skills, and values to serve society at large. She concluded by encouraging them to live with purpose and walk in faith.
Earlier, the event began with an academic procession and an invocation prayer by Vizapo Kikhi, Resident Officer of the Gents’ Hostel. Principal Prof Visakhonu Hibo, in her address, congratulated the graduates. She reminded the graduates that the degree marked not an end, but the beginning of a new chapter, and encouraged them to strive for greater heights until they achieved their goals.
A major highlight was the presentation of the Molhou Zhasa Award for Academic Excellence to Kedosekho of the Political Science Department, who also delivered the valedictory speech. Dr Akho Yhokha, Treasurer of the Board of Management, conveyed greetings and encouraged graduates to think innovatively and embrace opportunities.
The programme also included musical performances by graduand Mutsou Z Lohe and fifth-semester student Deborah Hibo, adding an emotional and reflective tone. The ceremony concluded with a blessing by Colo Mero, Director of LIFE Ministries, and the singing of the National Anthem.
