NFR cancels, reschedules trains amid restoration work in Assam

Maligaon, August 17 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has cancelled and rescheduled several trains in view of ongoing restoration work near New Harangajao station following the settlement of railway tracks on Line-1 and Line-2.

Train operations over the Lumding-Badarpur Hill Section are being maintained through Line-3 with enhanced safety measures, the NFR said in a statement on Monday.

As part of the latest changes, Train No. 15615 (Guwahati-Silchar) Express, scheduled to commence its journey on August 18, has been cancelled. Train No. 15616 (Silchar-Guwahati) Express, scheduled to commence its journey on August 19, has also been cancelled.

Several trains have been rescheduled.
Train No. 15650 (Narangi-Agartala) Express, scheduled to commence its journey on August 18, will depart from Narangi at 10.30 pm instead.
Train No. 15649 (Agartala-Narangi) Express, scheduled to commence its journey on August 18, will depart from Agartala at 11.30 pm.
Train No. 15609 (Guwahati-Sairang) Express, scheduled to commence its journey on August 18, will depart from Guwahati at 11.30 pm.
Train No. 15610 (Sairang-Guwahati) Express, scheduled to commence its journey on August 18, will depart from Sairang at 9.30 pm.
Train No. 15611 (Rangiya-Silchar) Express, scheduled to commence its journey on August 18, will depart from Rangiya at 11.30 pm.
Train No. 15612 (Silchar-Rangiya) Express, scheduled to commence its journey on August 18, will now depart from Silchar at 5 am on August 19.
Train No. 15628 (Coimbatore-Silchar) Express, scheduled to commence its journey on August 18, will now depart from Silchar at 4.10 am on August 19.
Besides, Train No. 15625 (Deoghar-Agartala) Express, commencing its journey on August 17, will be suitably regulated en route.
The NFR said restoration work near New Harangajao station is continuing and train services are being operated with necessary safety measures. 

NFR upgrades Netaji Vidyapith Railway School in Maligaon
Meanwhile, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has undertaken comprehensive infrastructure upgradation at Netaji Vidyapith Railway Higher Secondary School in Maligaon, aimed at providing students with modern, safe and improved educational facilities.

As part of the initiative, a new G+1 RCC building with 20 classrooms and modern classroom furniture has been constructed, significantly enhancing the school's academic infrastructure.

The upgradation works also include construction of a covered prayer shed and renovation and modernisation of the Subir Raha Memorial Auditorium.

The facade of the school building has been enhanced with a new canopy and exterior painting, giving the institution a modern appearance. Improvements have also been carried out in the approach road, existing office and classrooms, drainage system, among other facilities.

Netaji Vidyapith Railway Higher Secondary School was established on January 23, 1948, in honour of freedom fighter Netaji Subash Chandra Bose.

Over the years, the institution has produced several distinguished alumni, including Dr Paritosh Kansa Banik, former Director of NIT, Silchar; Dr Jayashree Bhattacharjee, former Principal of Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Hospital, New Delhi; and Rajib Dhar, a FIDE-rated chess player.

The institution, run by the Northeast Frontier Railway, continues to focus on nurturing students and empowering them to achieve excellence.

The renovated Subir Raha Memorial Auditorium, newly constructed classrooms, prayer shed and upgraded facade were inaugurated by NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava on August 15.
