Kiphire DPDB reviews schemes, holds orientation on Adi Karama Yogi Abhiyan

KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 21 (MExN): The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting-cum-orientation programme for the Adi Karama Yogi Abhiyan (AKA) was held at the DC’s Conference Hall, Kiphire, on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Temsuwati Longkumer.

In his address, Longkumer extended a warm welcome to the board members and, while reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, spoke on registration of the SHE-BOX portal, fumigation measures for malaria and dengue prevention, and the implementation of PM Gati Shakti in the district. He said the Ministry has mandated saturation of five key assets—schools, hospitals, anganwadi centres, roads and water pipelines. He urged all concerned departments to ensure accurate mapping and reflection of these assets on the Gati Shakti portal on priority, and asked them to share their status with the Management Information System (MIS) team for monitoring.

EAC Kiphire, Takatemjen Pongen, underlined the importance of the orientation programme for the Adi Karama Yogi Abhiyan, a mission-driven cadre initiative of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, launched earlier at the State level. He said the Abhiyan is a national movement aimed at building a decentralised tribal leadership and governance ecosystem.

Several officers also spoke during the programme, including Junior Soil and Water Conservation Officer, Shekimu H. Sumi; Lead District Manager, Kevitsoto Stephen Chasie; ToT EBRC, Atsaba Sangtam; Project Director (DRDA), N. Kupto Achumi; ZPGC Principal, Dr Phyobenthung; and District Programme Officer (LRD), P. Lipichem Sangtam.

Departmental presentations were made by Lily O. Ezung of the NSRDA representing the DRDA Department, and by Shekimu H. Sumi of the Soil Conservation Department.

In his concluding remarks, Longkumer urged the Rural Development Department to take corrective measures to identify households without job cards in the villages and stressed the need to maintain proper records of MGNREGA beneficiaries at the village level. He emphasised transparency and accountability in rural development programmes, and reminded the DPDB members of the Grand Finale of Miss Kiphire, scheduled for September 27 at the GHSS Auditorium, Kiphire.
