A free community medical camp was organised at Lower PR Hill Panchayat Hall, Kohima, on May 28, under the initiative of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) Ward-19 Councillor Medoviu Martin Suohu, in collaboration with the Urban Primary Health Center (UPHC), Porterlane.
Christened as “Bringing healthcare closer to every family,” the medical camp featured general health check- up, BP & blood sugar testing, children’s health consultation, elderly care support and basic medical consultation.
Apart from today’s medical camp, Suohu also provided two computer set and sport goods for children of Government Primary School, Lower PR Hill, Kohima.
Addressing the introductory service, Suohu said that the Medical Camp has been initiated to build a healthy society.
He thanked the medical team and Ward- 19 Council for their support towards the successful conduct of the camp.
Suohu also acknowledged the unwavering support of all the five colonies within Ward-19, adding that unity and shared responsibility represent the strength of the community, and contribute to making everything possible.
Dr Aomeren Longkumer, MO in-charge, UPHC Porterlane informed that screening of hypertension, diabetes, TB and others was done during the camp.
The camp also featured X-Ray facilities including dental check up, free consultation and distribution of medicines.
Dr Longkumer informed that UPHC Porterlane is equipped with good medical facilities and laboratory equipment which can do wide range of tests at free of cost.
He said that the Center focus on the aspects of Promotive, Preventive and Curative health care.
Urging everyone to come forward and avail the various facilities, Dr. Longkumer said “We are open on all the government working days from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.”
‘True champion of students’ dream and aspiration’
Lower PR Hill colony chairman Peteruokuo Belho thanked Suohu for undertaking various welfare activities for Ward-19 residents, adding that his action-oriented and visionary leadership will go a long way in taking the community forward in different aspects of life.
He also thanked Suohu for the successful conduct of Free Veterinary Camp on May 23 last at Supply Colony.
Vizalenuo Natso, Teacher In-charge, GPS Lower PR Hill expressed gratitude to Suohu for his good gesture towards the students’ well-being.
On previous occasion, Suohu has provided stationary and sponsored prizes for co-curricular activities of the school, she said.
Natso thanked him for being a “true champion of students’ dream and aspiration.”
Earlier, the programme was led by Rose Mary Jamir while Puhono Belho invoked God’s blessings.
