Kohima, April 5 (MExN): Kohima Police personnel came to the rescue of one Longkhangbah Yimchunger who was “found loitering around” TCP Gate, Kohima, after the window period for shopping was over on Saturday.

Upon inquiry by the officers on duty, it was revealed that Longkhangbah had gone out in search of money to buy food since he did not have anything to eat.

According to accounts of the event shared on official Twitter handle of Nagaland Police, Longkhangbah, a stone mason by profession, had come to Kohima for work and at present, is residing with his brother and another friend at Officers Hill.

However, the lockdown left him without any job and hence, no earnings. Presumably, with his savings exhausted and left with no other choice, Longkhangbah ventured out in search of money to buy food.

Having understood the circumstances the person was in, one officer immediately called up the DC’s Office, where relief by way of ration is being issued to stranded migrant labourers and others, for help.

Thereafter, he was taken to Kohima Local Ground and after some formalities, he was given ration not only for himself but also for his brother and friend who were left jobless and worried due to the lockdown.

It was not much but the smile on his face says it all, the tweet stated. Putting out a reminder for all citizens to be kind to one another, it added “No matter how small your act of kindness may seem, do it whenever you can. In the end, happiness gained by little acts of kindness make the sum of life.”
