KIPHIRE, JANUARY 3 (MExN): The KVK Kiphire, ICAR for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre organized Swacchta Pakhwada from December 16 to 31, 2020 where a series of swacch related programmes were conducted.
The programme started with swacchta planning on December 16, where a swacch pledge was also held. Cleaning of office was conducted on December 17 followed by cleanliness and awareness campaign held till December 30.
A special programme ‘Kisan Diwas’ was held on December 23 where a training programme was conducted at Longmatra. The resource persons for the programme were Temjenna Jamir, SMS and Sepila Sangtam from NSRLM, Kiphire.
During the technical session, Temjenna Jamir deliberated on integrated farming systems and IPM. Various models of IFS such as livestock based, horti and agri based IFS were introduced to the farmers. Control of pest using IPM module was also deliberated and emphasis was laid on using organic methods for the control of pests.
Sepila Sangtam meanwhile spoke on value addition in agri and horti crops. She elaborated the methods adopted in the processing of crops such as ginger, goose berry, chilies etc and encouraged the women participants to take up these activities so as to utilize the surplus produce and further increase their income.
A short discussion cum interaction was also held on Farm Act, 2020, where the farmers raised queries pertaining to the Act. Dr N Khumdemo Ezung, (i/c) Senior Scientist and Head and Co-ordinator of the programme informed that this is a national programme and a detailed action plan was worked out by ICAR Headquarter at New Delhi and implemented by all KVKs at district levels and reported on a daily basis.
He thanked all the volunteers for participating in the programme and for successfully implementing the same.
