
Dimapur, November 12 (MExN): People from different walks of life continue to pay tributes late Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya, the former Governor of Nagaland Acharya passed away on November 10. He was 92.
He served as the 18th Governor of Nagaland from July 2014 to July 2019 and also held the additional charge of Manipur, Assam, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh during the intervening period.

Late Acharya was kind hearted, simple and honest man who endeared himself to all those who knew him, Nagaland Post Editor Geoffrey Yaden stated in his tribute.
“He was the most unassuming incumbent of the Raj Bhavan and a true people’s governor,” he said.
Late Acharya always kept the doors of his heart and the Raj Bhavan open to all and was the first governor ever to invite the workers of Raj Bahvan to “sit and eat with him” illustrating his character as a man who respected every human being with dignity, he added.
Yaden, who had been acquainted with late Acharya, shared a personal memory of late Acharya gracing the 25th-anniversary celebration of the State's first English newspaper, Nagaland Post, in 2015.
He further maintained that Acharya inspired the launch of the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan in the entire North-East, including Nagaland.
“I on my behalf and on behalf of my wife and staff of Nagaland Post, express our condolences to the bereaved family members and pray that God will grant you all strength to overcome your grief and also pray for eternal rest for the departed soul,” Yaden added, in his condolence message addressed to Kavita Acharya, the wife of late Acharya.
NDPP: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has expressed and sadness over the demise of late Acharya.
He was known for his integrity and dedication in his service to the people and whose benevolence and generosity was second to none, added a condolence message from NDPP President Chingwang Konyak.
At the same time, late Acharya also did not mince his words when it came to ccountability and transparency towards ensuring good governance, be it with the Government or the society, he said.
He was a lifelong member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), yet he never let his or the Partys interest come in the way of the discharge of his duties and responsibilities during his tenure as the Governorship in many states, he added.
The NDPP also remembered late Acharya many philanthropic activities targeted towards the upliftment of the people of the North-East, particularly the youth for assuming his office as Governor.
At his passing, the people of the North-East in general and Nagaland in particular have not only lost a friend, but a fatherly figure who devoted his life in the upliftment and betterment of society, Chingwang said.
The rank and file of the NDPP joins me and my wife in conveying our deepest and heartfelt condolences and prayers to Madam Kavita Acharya and the members of the bereaved family, he added.
Nagaland State Committee SCMP
The Nagaland State Committee Seemanta Chetana Mancha Purvottar (SCMP) also remembered late Acharya as a dedicated public servant, who was particularly concerned with the well-being of the people in the Indo-Myanmar Border Area.
“His guidance and humility greatly impacted our organization, especially in our efforts to uplift villages in the Border Areas,” informed a condolence note from Committee President Kihomong Yim.
It further offered its deepest sympathies to his bereaved famil of late Acharya.
NSBSG: The family of the Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides (NSBSG) also expressed sadness over the demise of late Acharya, who was the NSBSG’s Chief Patron during his tenure as Governor of the State.
He took keen interest in promoting the largest youth uniformed movement and was personally involved in the activities of the State bringing in the far flung members from the State for participation at the Raj Bhavan, stated a condolence note from Atuo Mezhur Sekhose, State Chief Commissioner NSBSG.
He also initiated in providing tiffin to the State Headquarter Staff in Kohima every Tuesday and encouraged the members to give their best for the welfare of the youth, it said.
His death has left a void none can fill and the family of NSBSG joins in mourning of his demise, it said.
The State Association will remember his sweet gestures and continue to cherish his memories, it added.
