Leadership training: School students vow to strive to be leaders who will make difference

Wokha, April 13 (MExN): With an aim to help student leaders discover the true meaning of leadership, Peace Channel organized leadership training for the Peace Club members at Little Angels School in Wokha on April 13. Altogether, 36 members along with the teacher animator participated in the training.

Peace Activist Patrick W Tungoe during the event stated that leadership is not about a title or a designation but a person who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. Being a leader, we should create an inspiring vision for the future, coach and build a team, and motivate and inspire the people to engage more effectively at achieving the goals, he said, according to a press release from Peace Channel.

“We should work on the effective speaking and communication to be able to convince and communicate the message to the people,” Patrick added.

He also encouraged the participants to be willing to accept and overcome mistakes and failure, adding “to be a leader we should work hard to build ourselves, be it self-discipline, character and values by always setting good examples because it is not possible to lead someone else if we don’t lead ourselves in the right direction.”

The activist also encouraged the participants to set SMART Goals, which is specific, measurable, achievable, rational/realistic and time bound.

Later, the student leaders were invited to take an oath stating they would strive to be leaders who would make a difference.
