In a bid to propagate strict maintenance of social distancing, Nagaland’s housing & Mechanical Minister Tongpang Ozukum and other legislators of Kohima district along with district administration, police, Kohima Municipal Council and Committee on Social Distancing and Lockdown Enforcement today inspected various shopping points in the state capital Kohima.

Ozukum, who is also minister in-charge for Kohima district on COVID-19 told The Morung Express that the decision to pay a visit to shopping points was taken during the Kohima District Task Force on COVID 19 meeting on Saturday.

The idea is to monitor social distancing during the shopping period within Kohima city.

Ozukum along with MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro visited BOC area while MLA Khriehu Liezietsu inspected High School area. Dr Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire, advisor Urban Development & Municipal Affairs monitored Razhu point and town area.

“We are trying our best to strictly monitor social distancing during the shopping period,” the minister said.
He said that similar exercise will be carried out on coming Wednesday as well.

Ozukum hoped to improve the level as “we continue to monitor social distancing.”

Meanwhile, Ozukum said that shopping transaction from PHQ junction to Bethesda hospital and Bethel Hospital will be shifted to another location since those two empanelled hospitals area required clean environment and obstruction free during this period.

Vendors will not be allowed to operate from this area from next Wednesday onwards, the minister said adding that alternative arrangement will be made to them.
