Wokha, May 24 (MExN): The first-ever School Integrated Programme (SIP) aimed at strengthening science education and competitive examination preparation was launched at Libemo Memorial School in Nagaland’s Wokha district on May 22.

The programme was chaired by Therali, while the invocation prayer was offered by Loreni Ezung. Students, teachers, parents, dignitaries and education stakeholders attended the event.

Principal of the school, Surojit Mitra, delivered the welcome address and conducted the felicitation of dignitaries and science freshers.
In his address, Mitra stressed the importance of collaborative educational efforts and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to quality science education.

Managing Director of NITI Academy, Ajay Sethi, attended the programme as the keynote speaker.

Addressing the students, Sethi highlighted the importance of discipline, consistency, scientific temperament and competitive preparedness. He encouraged students to develop higher aspirations and make use of opportunities available within Nagaland to pursue careers in medicine, engineering and other professional fields.

He also stressed the need to promote STEM education in Nagaland, stating that the state currently stands at 14 per cent in STEM participation while the national level has crossed 40 per cent.

The special guest speaker, Chandrakant Bharti, emphasised determination, academic focus and the collective responsibility of educational institutions in shaping future generations.

During the programme, Science and Mathematics books along with Daily Practice Papers (DPPs) were distributed to science students by Merilo Kikon.

The event also marked the restart of the Science stream at the school. Under the SIP, students will be guided by IIT alumni faculty members for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and NIT-trained faculty for Biology, bringing competitive examination-oriented preparation closer to students in the district.

According to the organisers, Wokha district currently has only 20 students enrolled in Class XI Science this year, making the initiative significant for promoting science education and increasing participation in STEM fields.

The organisers said the launch of the SIP is expected to strengthen the educational ecosystem in the district and create affordable opportunities for students to pursue higher academic goals without leaving the state.
