LONGLENG, MAY 31 (MExN): A meeting of the District Tuberculosis Forum and District AIDS Prevention and Control Committee (DAPCC) was held on May 29 at the DPDB Meeting Hall, Deputy Commissioner's Office, Longleng, to review the status of public health initiatives in the district.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Longleng W Manpai Phom.
District Tuberculosis Officer Dr Temsusashi, who chaired the programme, outlined the objectives of the District TB Forum and DAPCC and stressed the importance of coordinated efforts and community participation in strengthening TB and AIDS control initiatives.
He also highlighted government support available to TB patients, including free diagnosis and treatment, nutritional support and honorariums for treatment supporters.
Tongang, Senior Treatment Supervisor, briefed the gathering on the ongoing 100-day TB Mukt Bharat campaign, which is focusing on identifying asymptomatic cases at the village level. District Integrated Strategy official Lita presented the current HIV/AIDS situation in Longleng district.
State Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, SSHAKTI, Kabit shared details of Mission AIDS Suraksha, an intensified public health initiative launched by the Government of India to achieve HIV/AIDS epidemic control and make all districts "Surakshit Plus."
He said India aims to achieve HIV control by December 2027 and noted that the mission aligns with Sustainable Development Goals through strategic targets and accelerated micro-planning. He added that the initiative is being implemented in 15 districts of Nagaland to improve testing, treatment linkage and adherence.
Representatives of Hampong Yingli Mission Society also shared updates on their targeted intervention activities.
Addressing the meeting, DC Phom appreciated the work carried out by the Health & Family Welfare Department in Longleng and said the objective of the meeting was to discuss measures required to eliminate tuberculosis and control HIV/AIDS in the district.
The meeting concluded with discussions on challenges faced and a call for stronger coordination among stakeholders to achieve the district's public health goals.
Officials from the District Health Society, DRDA, Phom People's Council, Phomla Hoichem, Yingli Mission Society and other departments attended the meeting.
