OIL, AMIDA donate to CM’s relief fund

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. in association with All Manipur Indane Distributors’ Association (AMIDA) donated 500 numbers of 5-kg Free Trade LPG cylinders worth Rs. 6.82 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for distribution to flood affected people in a simple function held at the lawn of Chief Minister’s Secretariat today.
Speaking to media persons, N. Biren said that the State Government had already submitted a preliminary report on flood control to the Central Government.
Stating that lakhs of people had been affected by the natural calamity in the State, the Government has been putting in all possible efforts to help, rescue and rehabilitate the flood affected people, he added.
Amid Government’s sincere efforts towards extending helping hand to the affected people, different organisations have also started donating cash and kind to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and the Governor’s Relief Fund, the Chief Minister said.
Informing that the flood situation in the State had been reviewed once again in a high level meeting attended by Ministers and MLAs today, N. Biren said that the meeting decided to immediately begin construction of atleast 20 to 30 houses worth Rs. 1.5 lakh each in every Assembly Constituency through the local area development funds of the concerned MLAs without waiting for additional funds from the Centre.
The Chief Minister also informed the media that normal traffic movement on NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) had been restored from today with the completion of reconstruction of the sunken portions of the highway.
He also expressed pleasure that the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. had agreed to contribute atleast Rs. 50 lakhs under Corporate Social Responsibility programme in the construction of women’s washrooms near community ponds of different villages under State Government’s ‘Go to Village’ mission.
The Chief Minister also extended his sincere gratitude to all those who had taken part in rescue and relief works of flood affected people and also to all the organisations which had donated to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
