Medical supplies delivered to Yenchung village

DIMAPUR, APRIL 19 (MExN): The Eastern Konyak Union (Myanmar) today informed that the Kamti Battalion No 347 Army Captain visited the eastern Konyak area on April 17 at Yenchung village in the Indian, Myanmar border area village under the Lahe township Naga Self-Administered Zone,Sagaing Division, Myanmar.  


The team handed over medicine to the YenchungVillage Council and Yenchung village dispensary, while spreading awareness on the prevention measures against COVID-19. 


A press release from the ESU Myanmar informed that the Captain said he would advise the Myanmar government to provide basic needs, rice, tea leaves, salt etc to the people at the earliest. He also had an interaction with Eastern Konyak Union Advisor, WangmaoAngh; Executive Member,Athrom and other public leaders.


He encouraged the people to maintain hygiene and assured that the both civil and military higher authority in Myanmar would be apprised to contribute the necessary items for the lock down. He further appealed that border area shops issue necessary things to the eastern public while they come to buy necessary requirements. 


The union had earlier issued a press statement lamenting the the villages in the border areas have been suffering for months now, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic making life more difficult in the already isolated Indo-Myanmar border. 


It again requested Ministers, MLAs and civil society leader, especially in the Indian side of the border to allow the movement of public for buying needs from border shops. It further asked leaders in the Naga Self-Administered Zone to provide help.
