Dimapur, September 9 (MExN): M G M College, affiliated to Nagaland University, held its seventh graduation ceremony at the college auditorium here on Wednesday, marking the transition of its graduating students from campus life to new responsibilities and opportunities.
Dr Kevezai Tureng, Director, College Development Council, Nagaland University, was the special guest at the ceremony.
In his commencement address, Tureng urged the graduates to enter the next phase of their lives with confidence, integrity, commitment and a sense of responsibility. He asked them to translate their education into meaningful careers and contribute positively to society and the nation.
Principal Dr R K Behera, in his address, said education should go beyond employment and serve as a foundation for character formation, leadership, social responsibility and nation-building. He formally declared the ceremony open.
The programme began with an academic procession, lighting of the lamp and college anthem, followed by invocation and opening remarks. Administrator Fr Shaiju Philip delivered the welcome address.
Siamthianmawi of the Department of English received the C Khalong Ao and Dr I Talitemsula Running Trophy and cash award for securing the highest CGPA in the college. L Annastacia Dangshawa of the Department of Economics, who secured the second-highest CGPA, received a cash award from the Parents-Teachers Association.
IQAC Coordinator Jemsungba Walling administered the graduation oath, while Lamleba Sangtam, representing the graduating batch of 2026, shared the students' reflections and experiences.
Prof Tankeswar Gohain, Nagaland University nominee to M.G.M. College, also addressed the graduates and urged them to carry forward the values of discipline, perseverance, humility and service.
The ceremony also featured musical performances by the college choir and Temjen Longkumer, assistant professor, Department of Education.
The event was attended by members of the Governing Body, Parents-Teachers Association, Alumni Association, guardians, faculty, staff and well-wishers.
Dean of Students Lisathung Ozung delivered the closing speech, followed by the benediction by Mhonlumo T Tsopee, assistant professor, Department of Economics, and the national anthem.
