Claims his constituency has been left out of relief policies

DIMAPUR, APRIL 17 (MExN): The Naga People Front (NPF) MLA from 28th Koridang Assembly Constituency, Imkong L Imchen today questioned as to why his constituency has been left out of government policies to extend help and assistance to the public.

A press release from the MLA and former Minister stated: “I don’t understand why my constituency people should be punished or ignored in this manner because they have committed no wrong whatsoever for electing me as their people’s representative to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.”

This year has been a trial due to the COVID-19 pandemic he stated. Imchen informed that the 28th Koridang A/C which is the biggest A/C under Mokokchung District, has 95% rural population with poor economic foundations.

“I have inquired from the State as well as the district authorities about the scope of providing help and assistance to my constituency. They replied, except migrant workers there is nothing in the government policy to help &assist the general public,” he stated.

Under the given circumstances, the MLA stated that he decided to organize his own ways and means to help his constituency.

“Firstly I had given financial assistance to all the Village Councils in my constituency. Somehow I received 50 liters of Hand Sanitiser from Temjen Imna Along, Minister and President (BJP) for which I’m personally grateful to him,” he informed.

“Secondly I have requested my friend Pukhayi Sumi, Advisor Food & Civil Supplies to grant me few hundred quintals of Rice from the Dept. of Food & Civil Supplies, on which he was very happy to grant 500 quintals of Rice @ Rs. 12.50/Kg. I have collected from the department’s agent at Dimapur and organized and transported the same to my constituency for distribution,” he added.

He expressed concern as to how long the pandemic would continue, however expressing hope that “with the mighty hands of God upon my people we will survive and overcome this dreaded pandemic.”
