MON, NOVEMBER 9 (DIPR): The sixth Inter Departmental tournament of Mon District started on November 8 at Officer Club Mon.
Parliamentary Secretary, NRLM &Evaluation, Pohwang Konyak speaking on the inaugural programme as Chief Guest encouraged the officials and staff who are posted in Mon district to be a torch bearers to the youngsters in field of sports. Emphasizing on sports, he said that discipline and game spirit is the core and urged all the participants to maintain this while competing.
“Sports brings unity to everyone,” he said and appraised the organizers for initiating this Inter departmental tournament.
Deputy Commissioner and President, Official Club Mon, W Honje Konyak in his presidential address said that the Inter departmental tournament is the only occasion where officials and staff of different departments come together. He hoped that this tournament will be an inspiration, entertaining and refreshing to all the officials and staff who are posted in Mon District.
The disciplines in the tournament include Badminton, Carom, table Tennis, Arm wrestling and Marathon race. The tournament will conclude on November 10.
