More condemns alleged assault on doctor in Dimapur

Dimapur, April 6 (MExN): Various bodies of Kidima village comprising of the Kidima Village Council, Kidima Youth Organization, Kidima VDB, Kidima Students Union and Kidima Women Society on Monday issued a press release condemning the alleged assault on Dr Nosezol Rote, Senior Medical Officer, CHC Medziphema and Quarantine Officer for COVID-19 Dimapur district on April 3.

 


The joint press release stated that the “act of physical assault and damage to the vehicle” of Dr Rote by personnel of the Special Task Force who are “supposed to protect and make a smooth passage” is “intolerable and can never be compromised.”

 


As such, the organizations appealed to the higher authority to immediately terminate those erring personnel and bring justice to the victim. They also wished the doctor a speedy recovery.

 

CMK: The Chakhromapfü Mechü Krotho strongly condemned the assault and stated that “it is very unfortunate to witness such incidence of abuse of power and lack of awareness,” especially in these critical times when the medical fraternity is working tirelessly against the COVID-19 pandemic.


The CMK urged the concerned authorities to take prompt action against the erring police personnel and also brief them so that such incidents do not happen in the future.

 

MVC: The Medziphema Village Council strongly condemned the alleged assault on Dr Nosezol Sezo, Senior Medical Officer, Community Health Centre, Medziphema by Special Task Force personnel at Purana Bazar, Dimapur on April 3 night. It urged the concerned authority to bring justice in the case urgently.

 

Naga Hoho: The Naga Hoho also condemned the incident stating that the “law keepers must understand the category of exemptions and genuine patients on medical ground.” As such, the Naga Hoho appealed the concerned authority to immediately initiate actions against the erring the Police personnel and ensure safety to the frontline workers. Further, the Hoho appealed to the general public to “stay home safe, so that collectively we can fight against the most dreaded disease.” 

 

NMC: The Nagaland Medical Council (NMC) condemned the April 3 incident and demanded that a “High Level Magisterial inquiry be constituted to look into the matter and appropriate action be taken,” in a release issued by NMC president Dr Joyce Angami and vice president Dr Sashimeren Aier today.

 

MMK: The Medziphemapfü Mechü Krotho in a press release condemned the “high handedness of the STF personnel” and questioned the “keepers/guardians of law and order” on the safety and security of the public. The organization also appealed the government to immediately book the perpetrators and take stringent punishment befitting the deed.
