Dimapur, April 12 (MExN): More condolence messages poured in from various quarters after the demise of Kaka Dierhekolie Iralu, a prominent author and a leading voice of the Naga political movement, on April 9. In messages, they extended condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for peace of the departed soul.
AYO: The Angami Youth Organization paid its tribute on Sunday and expressed its gratitude to Kaka D Iralu for “for dedicating his life to the Naga movement and for immortalizing the history of the Nagas through his writings.”
“A true Patriot undeterred by any circumstances, he chose to take the road ‘less travelled’ with a mission of free Naga Nation, undiscouraged by any adversary and leaving behind a legacy for the young generation to tread on,” the AYO stated in its message.
The seed of activism that he sowed will never fade but germinate in the minds and hearts of the youths of today for the vision of our tomorrow, it said while adding that the legacy he left behind is a void which can never be filled. “The Angamis have lost its best, a true son of the soil- Kaka D Iralu,” it stated.
DPON: The Dimasa Public Organisation, Nagaland stated that Kaka D Iralu was a prominent writer, Naga Nationalist, intellectual and patriot.
“In his demise the people of Nagaland lost a brave outspoken intellectual who helped shape the political movement through his fearless writing and speeches. The vacuum created by his demise would be felt undoubtedly,” DPON President K Naben and General Secretary P Monuhar Thaosen stated in a condolence message.
Mao Hoho: The Mao Hoho Nagaland remembered Kaka Iralu as “One who experienced the harsh reality of Naga nationalism even in childhood,” and said Kaka was “the Naga chronicler who inscribed in his books incidents and events, with the very people and the very places, rendering them indelible before the world.”
His revisits to these places, it said, were both to verify and to relive the events which would otherwise have dimmed with time.
“In his many articles, Kaka provoked the readers into delineating Naga nationalism from the mundane life of outward peace Nagas have been sliding into. In his writings and his speeches, he was passionate and fearless and those who closely knew him affirm that he was genuine and natural, without attitude or complex and did not speak what he did not mean,” the condolence message stated.
Expressing regret on its inability to pay its last respect to his mortal remains due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the Hoho General Scretary S Hepuni John said “We truly mourn the death of such a son of the Land, who will be greatly missed by the Naga people.”
