The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting for Zunheboto District was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Zunheboto, on October 9, with Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and Chairperson, DISHA, S. Supongmeren Jamir, in attendance.

The meeting began with an address by the MP, who emphasized the need for all officials to work together as one family in close coordination with the District Administration. He stated that the Government of India has introduced numerous welfare schemes and urged all Heads of Offices in Zunheboto District to work diligently, noting that they operate at the grassroots level and are best acquainted with the district’s needs. He further stressed that every effort must be made to ensure that no individual or community is left out of the benefits of these schemes.

Jamir also observed that while the State Government is making sincere efforts to implement various programmes, it is the responsibility of departmental heads to ensure that these schemes reach the targeted beneficiaries and are effectively carried out. He added that his objective was also to understand and address the challenges faced by local communities during the implementation of different projects.

The MP mentioned that certain crucial schemes for the district could be forwarded to the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) for prioritisation. He further suggested that issues which could not be resolved during the meeting should be taken up through close coordination with the Deputy Commissioner, who also serves as the Member Secretary, along with the concerned departments.

PowerPoint presentations were made by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), and Department of Social Welfare, highlighting various schemes and projects currently being implemented in the district.

During the presentation, Executive Engineer Er. Ichirang Zeliang of PHED, Zunheboto, reported that water quality in most villages of Zunheboto District was good. However, E. coli was detected in six villages, which has since been addressed. He also informed that a Water Testing Laboratory has been installed at the PHED Office, Zunheboto, for continuous monitoring of water quality in the district.

A report on PM POSHAN was also presented by the District Education Officer (DEO). Following the presentations, the MP invited suggestions from DISHA members on various schemes and projects to ensure their effective implementation.

An extensive discussion followed, during which the MP shared his observations and remarks on the ongoing schemes and their implementation in the district. He also appealed to all Heads of Offices and councillors to plant at least one tree under their care during their tenure in Zunheboto District. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, Chumlamo Humtsoe.
