The annual event of the Mokokchung Town Baptist Church Youth Department (MTBA YD), Children's Christmas Cake Carol Competition (C5) took a different turn this year. Due to the pandemic, the C5 one of the most awaited event for the Mokokchung citizens had to be organised virtually.

“Since we cannot have a competition like other times, 6 children from nine youth Fellowship (54) under MTBA sang song, of which a video was made,” said Lanuakum, President, MTBA YD.

More than a thousand children participate at the C5 competition every year but for 2020 only 54 children could participate.

The C5 video was released on MTBA Channel & YouTube channel MTBA Mokokchung on 18 December and a brief programme was held during the launch which was also broadcasted on MTBA channel.

Monglier, Youth Evangelist, MTBA YD when asked about the virtual event said, “Nothing like in real time, I believe 99.99 of the impact is missing in the virtual event. The engagement of youths in teaching, playing and arranging music, snacks, coffee, strategy making and managing children, excitements of parents, expectations of community, and the proclamation by children from the day one of practice is lost. I think C5 enhances the mood of Christmas in the town.”

“May be this virtual event gives us a good experience to take the C5 event a level up so that when we return to our normal days, we can use the experience to balance the real time and virtual,” he added.

The MTBA YD has also created one music video as a part of this year's C5 which is one of their original compositions and the audio of the video is also studio standard.

When asked about how the pandemic has impacted the youth calendar in the church, Lanuakum responded to The Morung Express, “Many planned activities in the calendar could not be conducted however one good offshoot of the pandemic was the use of social media on a bigger scale through which we could connect with the youths. Also it was a time of letting youths connects with the “basic” that is focus on Word of God and prayer.”

The C5 video of the MTBA YD can be viewed from the MTBA Mokokchung YouTube channel and also from MTBA Facebook Page.
