Nagaland COVID-19: 3 new cases, death toll at 74

The Nagaland COVID-19 tally reached 11,978 with three more people testing positive on Sunday.

Out of 88 tests conducted on January 10, three which returned positive were from traced contacts. According to an update from State Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom, the new cases were reported in Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung.

The state now has 115 active cases, while 11,639 people have recovered from the disease, as per the bulletin on COVID-19 issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

The bulletin also showed that Dimapur district has the highest number of active cases with 65 while Kohima has 32, Mokokchung has 10, Peren has 5 and Mon, Kiphire and Longleng have one case each.

Traced Contacts accounted for 41percent of the COVID-19 cases in Nagaland with 4,908 cases out of 11,978. It was followed by Armed forces/Security personnel at 39 percent with the total at 4,658 on Sunday. Returnees/Travelers and Frontline Workers accounted for the remaining cases with 15 percent and 5 percent respectively as per the bulletin.

Meanwhile, 74 patients have succumbed to the infection and 10 other deaths have been categorized as ‘not COVID related’. As on January 10, one death is ‘under investigation’ while 139 patients have migrated to other states.
