The Nagaland Government is working with the Times Group of India, on a Project called ‘ProjectStepone’ to reach out to the citizens who require medical consultation over the phone.
This was informed by Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, KesonyuYhome during a press conference in Kohima on April 23.
Citizens requiring such assistance can call the State Toll Free Helpline 1800 345 0001 and they will be guided to the appropriate consultant from a pool of doctors from across India depending upon the caller’s query. This facility will be available to citizens of the state in a few days for which a separate notice shall be issued separately.
Meanwhile, the department while appreciating the cooperation of all the citizens of the state during this period of the lockdown stated that these lockdown measures are very crucial as they ensure the norms of social distancing, and thereby help in breaking the chain of transmission.
“The department also understands the hardships being faced by the people without easy access especially to healthcare units, physicians and pharmacies etc” stated Yhome and to mitigate the problems, informed that the department has partnered with the Nagaland Medical Council (NMC) for providing OPD services initially at Kohima and Dimapur.
Further, depending upon the availability of volunteers, similar facilities will be made available to the citizens in other locations and districts as well.
Appreciating all the private healthcare units in the state in this fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in the delivery of healthcare services to general patients, Yhome informed that the identified private hospitals need to be empanelled under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan ArogyaYojna (AB-PMJAY) for providing free services to beneficiaries.
The secretary also appealed all to allow the healthcare service personnel (including government and private) to discharge their duties without any obstruction or hindrance either within the premises of clinical establishments or on the road/streets etc.
He extended his appreciation on behalf of the department the assistance and support extended by all civil society organisations.
He also conveyed appreciation to the media for exhibiting a high degree of professionalism.
