Nagaland Lokayukta on complaint filed by AIACO

Kohima, April 17 (MExN): In reply to a complaint filed against the agencies/individual involved in procuring the alleged sub-standard PPEs for Nagaland, the Nagaland Lokayukta, Directorate of Investigation, has directed the complainant to furnish information with regard to the case.

Stating that the Nagaland Lokayukta Organization is a quasi-judicial body and is “not expected to entertain a complaint, if the same has been made to any other competent authority for redressal of grievance, till it is finally disposed of and in disposal thereof any grievance of injustice/maladministration/corruption is made before the Lokayukta,” it directed the Chairman of the All India Anti Corruption Organization (AIACO), S Richard Humtsoe has been directed to “disclose categorically as to how many authorities the same complaint has been submitted and whether they are competent to address and redress the grievances.”

If so, it questioned whether the complainant has waited for reasonable time for their response particularly in the extraordinary situation continuing today upon imposition of Lockdown to combat COV1D-19.

The Lokayukta also sought a copy of the Registration Certificate (including Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association) of the Society/NGO “to find out as to whether the complainant’s organization has been formed to raise such an issue on behalf of the people of Nagaland who themselves are competent to file individual complaint to authorities including Quasi-Judicial authority like Nagaland Lokayukta Organization.”

However, the Nagaland Lokayukta Police looking to the nature of grievance, pending registration of Preliminary Enquiry/RC subject to furnishing the given details and affidavits, has forwarded a copy of the complaint to the Principal Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Health & family Welfare Department to urgently look into the grievance and take appropriate steps for its redressal under intimation to the Nagaland Lokayukta, it stated.
