KSU requests to spell ‘Khiamniungan’ correctly

Dimapur, September 23 (MExN): The Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) today requested the learners, intellectuals, writers, press, media and publishers from all fields to rightly spell the community’s name “Khiamniungan”. KSU Literary and Debating Secretary, Chongti M Lam in a press release stated that the word Khiamniungan is composed of three syllables /khiam/niu/ngan/ which means ‘Great Source of Water’ or ‘Great Water Source’. It is not ‘Khimungan’, ‘Khiamungan’ or ‘Khiamnugan’. Also KSU expressed that it is disheartening to see, read and know that Khiamniungan is very often misspelled, not only in local dailies but also in books, GK, articles, journals, research works etc. Therefore, the union has requested all concerned to rightly spell “Khiamniungan”.  

NCD emergency meeting

Dimapur, September 23 (MExN):The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has called an emergency meeting on September 26, 1:00 pm at Council Office, Nyamo Lotha Road, Dimapur regarding attempt on the life of L Doulo, proprietor, Kuda Cold Storage, 5th Mile, Dimapur allegedly by NSCN (K) cadres. Therefore, NCD in a press release has requested all the councilors, tribal hohos/unions, DDCF president & Secretary to attend the meeting without fail.  

Inter-departmental quiz held at St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama

Jakhama, September 23 (MExN): The Alumni Association St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama conducted an inter-departmental quiz competition at St. Joseph’s College on September 21. The quiz was organised keeping in mind the increasing level of competition in all sectors, and the need to encourage and prepare the potential young students to face such challenge, according to a press release. Altogether, nine teams representing different departments took part in the competition. The Department of Political Science was adjudged the Inter-departmental Quiz Champion 2017, whereas the Department of Sociology and the Department of History secured second and third positions respectively. The quiz competition was chaired by K. Zubemo Humtsoe, Asst. Professor, St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama (alumnus), while the quiz masters were Keleseho Stephen Tsukru (alumnus) and Visizo Ltu (alumnus).  

Review meeting held for VCCMs

Mon, September 23 (MExN): The second quarter Regional Review Meeting of Vaccine and Cold Chain Managers (VCCMs) organized by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Nagaland was held in Mon district at CMO conference hall, Mon HQ on September 21. It was attended by Mon district officials and UNDP staff. Deputy CMO Dr. Akaba highlighted the importance of UIP, while Egumsing Nsarangbe (Project Officer, UNDP) gave a brief PowerPoint presentation on eVIN (electronic vaccine intelligence network) followed by overview of regional performance, informed a press release. The district VCCMs – Achila (Mokokchung), Taliwala (Tuensang), Christina Rume (Longleng) and Sosopem (Mon) presented their district eVIN analysis and performance. In the second session, Yileutielie Hiekha (PO UNDP) and Sumit Sahrma (PO-IT UNDP) shared State analysis and software upgrades followed by open discussion session on issues and recommendations to improve vaccine logistics & cold chain management.  

Selection of KSUD office bearers

Dimapur, September 23 (MExN): The selection of Konyak Students’ Union Dimapur (KSUD) new office bearers for the year 2017-2020 will be held on September 30. In this regard, interested Konyak students from Dimapur have been requested to contact Sangti Konyak, president KSUD at 8794098018.  

Training for selected beneficiaries of RKVY

Kohima, September 23 (MExN): All the selected beneficiaries of RKVY, 2016-17 have been informed that a capacity building training will be conducted from September 27 onwards in the Chief Veterinary Officer's conference hall, Kohima at 10:00 am. The beneficiaries have been directed to bring two recent passport photographs along with the Aadhaar card or number, informed Dr. Vivotuo Miachieo, Chief Veterinary Officer, A.H & Veterinary Services.
