Kohima Panchayats ask public to follow directives

Kohima, April 7 (MExN): The Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP) appealed its citizens to strictly follow the directives of the government in maintaining social distance and the regulations of the lockdown. In a press release, the Association President and General Secretary also expressed appreciation to the state government, Kohima District Administration and the Kohima Municipal Council for their continued efforts in monitoring the spread of the virus as well as providing out essential commodities to those who are affected by the lockdown, particularly the daily wagers, migrant labourers and stranded students, etc.  Further, it stated that “it is also the responsibility of every individual citizen to contain the spread of the virus” and appealed the public to strictly follow all directives and guidelines of the government.

 

2 injured in Dimapur house fire

Dimapur, April 7 (MExN): A mother and her son were taken to hospital after a fire broke out their house at Kuda B Khel, Lane-20, near Hope Academy, Dimapur. The Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) mobilized a quick response team to control the fire from Fire Station Dimapur (Central) on receiving a fire call at 2:57 am on Tuesday morning.  According to a press release, a 55 year old woman sustained severe burn injuries and her 17-year-old son also sustained partial burns. The two were moved to Zion Hospital Dimapur after administering first aid, the release stated.  While the extent of damage to the property has not yet been confirmed, it was reported that some livestock and other property were also damaged in the fire.   The F&ES personnel were able to bring the fire under control and stop it spreading further. The cause of the fire is unknown.

 

Citizens Welfare Society visits frontline workers and personnel

Kiphire, April 7 (MExN): As a sign of solidarity with the frontline workers/personnel who have been working towards combating COVID-19, the Citizens Welfare Society (CWS) Kiphire on Monday visited security personnel and the medical staff on duty in Kiphire Town. During the visit, the CWS express gratitude towards the Medical Department and security personnel for performing their duties round the clock and risking their lives for the safety of the citizens. The Society also provided mineral water, juices and snacks to all the personnel on duty in and around Kiphire Town. Further, the CWS acknowledged the District Administration headed by the Deputy Commissioner, security agencies, VGs, KTCC, and various NGOs for their tireless effort in containing the epidemic till date. It also appealed to all the citizens to cooperate with whatever directives/orders are given by the Government, for their own safety.
