Nagaland Gov greets on Sökrönye festival

Kohima, January 14 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland RN Ravi, on the occasion of Sökrönye festival has conveyed greetings to “Chakhesang brothers and sisters and to the people of Nagaland.” The Governor in a message said that it is a harvest festival and the essence of this beautiful festival is sanctification of the Chakhesang community. Rituals involved are meant to purify the souls, and the children also learn the rich spiritual and cultural practices. “Let us celebrate this beautiful festival observing all COVID-19 protocols,” he made a call while adding, “On this significant occasion, may God bless you all with good health, happiness and a prosperous life.” 

CPO mourns

Kohima, January 14 (MExN): The Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) mourned the sudden demise of Dr Velü-o Shijoh, Rtd Additional Director (SIRD) (son of Lt Dai Shijoh) who breathed his last on January 12. “It is indeed a great lost to the Chakhesang community where his concern and contribution towards our people is exceptional in various counts which are to be cherished and remembered,” stated a condolence message from the CPO. It also prayed to Almighty God to grant solace and comfort to the bereaved family and “may his soul rest in eternal peace with the Lord.”

FGN condoles 

Dimapur, January 14 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has expressed shock on the sudden demise of late Major Hubi who joined national defence service on January 1, 1957. In a condolence message, Gen Tavecho Lala, Commander-in-Chief, Naga Army, FGN stated that late Hubi served the Naga Nation wholeheartedly till his last breath. “May the Almighty God protect and grant them solace and peace at this hour of grief,” the message also conveyed to the bereaved family members, relatives and friends. 

Former Speaker of Naga Hoho passes away 

Kohima, January 14 (MExN): Naga Hoho expressed sorrow over the sudden demise of late Krurovi Peseyie, former Speaker of Naga Hoho who passed away on January 21. “Lt Krurovi Peseyie had actively participated in various issues and contributed a lot towards strengthening the Naga Hoho for which we are ever grateful. Nagas throughout the length and breadth of Naga areas will always cherish his noble sacrifice and remember his deed in the annals of Naga history,” K Elu Ndang General Secretary, Naga Hoho stated in a message. It also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prays that God Almighty grand peace and comfort to his near and dear ones. 

Farmers Protest: NPF extends solidarity

Dimapur, January 14 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF), Farmers Wing in solidarity with the ongoing protest carried out by the farmers across the country, expressed hope “the Government will soon hammer out the crisis and work out for the betterment of the farmers of the nation.” The NPF Farmers Wing in a press note said that while welcoming the intervention and decision of the Supreme Court (SC) on the recent enactments of the three Farm Laws, they expect that the committee constituted by the SC will address the pertinent issue raised by the farmers in a fair and transparent manner. It also asserted that in every society and nation, farmers are the backbone of both the rich and the poor, and hence, “any laws enacted ought to be in the interest of the farmers and not otherwise.”
