
ANCSU informs
DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 21 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has informed that its offices will be closed from December 22 to January 12. A press release from the ANCSU meanwhile thanked the college authorities, faculty, college students’ union units, students and well wishers for their support and cooperation to the union throughout the year. It further extended Christmas and New Year greetings and urged all to not be complacent and follow all the COVID-19 SOPs.
Two Naga NCC girl cadets in Republic Day contingent camp
Kohima, December 21 (MExN): Two cadets of the Army Senior Wing (SW), 1 Nagaland Girls Battalion NCC, NCC Group, Kohima have made it to the Republic Day contingent camp as part of the NCC Directorate North East Region (NER).
A press release from the PIB Defense Wing informed that the selected cadets are SUO Rokovino, Kohima College and Sgt Zuchobeni, St Joseph' College (Autonomous).
The selection process initially commenced online at NCC unit level in September 2020 and thereafter mid October onwards on ground. After relentless training, three SW Cadets out of many volunteers were selected to attend the NER Dte Pre RDC-I Camp held at NCC Academy Jorhat, Assam from November 22 onwards. All three cadets got selected for the Pre RDC II Camp and Pre RDC-III Camp. The cadets were trained under the aegis of NCC Group HQ Kohima by Col Avinash D Pitre, CO 1 Nagaland Girls Battalion NCC and Hav Sempithung Lotha.
The selected cadets proceeded directly to New Delhi on December 18 to attend the Republic Day Camp (RDC) and shall be returning in Feb 2021.
Punjabi Samaj notifies
DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 21 (MExN): The Punjabi Samaj Dimapur has informed the new Gurudwara Management Committee of Gurudwara Sri Guru singh sabha and Punjabi samaj committee was formed on December 13. A press release informed that the office bearers of the Gurudwara committee are S Hardev Singh, President; S Gurcharn Singh Jaggi, Vice President; S Daljit Singh Sethi, General Sectary; S Govind Singh Gandhi, Joint Secretary; and S Karamjit Singh, Treasure. Meanwhile S Harjinder PS Dollyahluwalia will be President of Punjabi Samaj; S Baljit Singh Sethi as Vice President; S Harpal Singh Sawhney as General sectary; and Saurav Arora as Executive Member.
NSF office shut from Dec 23 till Jan 15
KOHIMA, DECEMBER 21 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has informed that its office will remain closed starting December 23 till January 15 owing to the festive season. A press release from the federation further extended greetings on the occasion of Christmas and New Year celebration. “May the season bring fresh meaning into our lives and renewed hope to our people as families reunite, broken relationships are mended and people from all walks of life come together to rejoice in the birth of the Prince of Peace,” it added. The NSF meanwhile informed that for any information, concerned individuals or groups may contact the federation at nagastudents1947@gmail.com or at the federation’s official Facebook page.
CAN extends Christmas greetings
KOHIMA, DECEMBER 21 (MExN): The Catholic Association of Nagaland has extended Christmas greetings to the people of Nagaland. A press release from Johnny Ruangmei, President, CAN said that “Christmas is the time to be grateful for the priceless gift, God has given to the world. Love came down from heaven divine when the universe expects not.”
The CAN prayed for “great inner joys upon all the families in the Diocese of Kohima” and urged “every believer to become a reflection of God’s love in sharing, loving and praying for neighbours, for friends and for each other.”
While noting that this year the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted society, the CAN urged all to make this Christmas 2020 a special and meaningful celebration.
Stating that the pandemic has imposed a harsh reality of bereavement, illness, and unemployment, the CAN urged that this Christmas 2020 be an occasion of sharing, and making others happy. “As members of the Catholic Association of Nagaland let us define this pandemic circumstance at this Christmas season as positive connections to ourselves, communities, and our wider environment,” it appealed.
