Amit Shah to take part in roadshow in Nagaland

New Delhi, February 17 (IANS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit poll-bound Nagaland on February 20 where he will participate in a mega roadshow. As per a BJP source, "Shah will visit Nagaland on February 20 to participate in a mega road show. Preparations for the roadshow are underway. The party workers are eager to meet the Home minister."
The 60-member Nagaland Assembly will go to the polls on February 27, while the counting of votes will be taken up on March 2. "Shah will meet the party workers to boost their morale just like he did in Gujarat. We are confident that the people of Nagaland have confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi," added the source. On Wednesday, the BJP released a short film - 'Nagaland needs BJP' - as part of its election campaign in the northeastern state.

Suspected bomb blast in Tsungiki village

Wokha, February 17 (MExN): A bomb blast allegedly took place at Tsungiki village under Wokha district on February 16. According to as press release issued by the 37 Tuyi AC candidate for RJD, Y Kikon, the incident took place at the residence of Janthungo Kikon, chairman, Tsungiki Village Council by some unknown miscreants during his absence. In a condemnation note, Y Kikon said, “as a peace loving person and hailing from the same village, I condemn such act of cowardice, against the vulnerable family members of Janthungo Kikon, causing terror and threat to their lives.” Meanwhile, he appealed the public to condemn the same and also appealed “the law enforcing authority to nap the culprit and take them to task as per the established law of the land.” 

DVC resolves on ensuing election

Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): The Diphupar Village Council (DVC), in regard to the ensuing 14th Nagaland assembly election, has resolved that the village council and its members will remain a neutral body. The DVC, Chairman, Ghuzui Shohe and Secretary, Tiatemsu Ao in a press release stated that a joint meeting was held with the VDB Diphupar Village on February 16. The meeting also resolved that no outsiders will be allowed to enter the village on the polling day; and no youth camps will be allowed to set up within the village jurisdiction.

Quarterly pension adalat for BSNL & DoT held

Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): The quarterly pension adalat for BSNL & DoT pensioners of Northeast-II Telecom Circle was conducted by O/o Joint Controller, NE-II Circle, Dimapur on February 17 at Imperial Hall, Hotel Classic Grande, Imphal. The objective of the pension adalat was to redress the grievances of pensioners, stated a PIB update. The adalat was attended by around 50 pensioners including representatives from the All India BSNL DoT Pensioners Association, NE-II Circle. The grievances of the pensioners received were discussed and settled by the adalat, it stated. 

30th death anniversary of Rani Gaidinliu observed

Imphal, February 17 (MExN): The 30th death anniversary of Rani Gaidinliu was observed at the Office of the Zeliangrong Youth Front, Imphal. Manipur on February 17. The observance was attended by leaders of Zeliangrong Civil Organisations (ZCOs), it stated in a press release. The leaders spoke about the selfless contribution rendered by the late Freedom Fighter of India. “It is pertinent to note that the funeral service was attended by the then Governor of Manipur Chintamani Panigrahi who was deputed by the Government of India at Luangkao village on February 17, 1993,” the media cell stated. 

TYF caution against use of money

Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): The Tangnyu Youth Forum (TYF), Mon district has cautioned against the use of money or forces to coerce voters. If any party fails to abide the condition set by the TYF, the case will be forwarded to concerned Returning Officer or Observer, Sessional Chairman Shonka Konyak cautioned in a press release. Meanwhile, the general public of Tangnyu village, Mon held a general public meeting at Tangnyu village football ground on February 14. The meeting was organised on public interests to choose the right leader from the 43 Tapi AC to bring changes in social-economic development in the area.
