
Governor, others extend Bishu greetings
Kohima, January 27 (MExN): Nagaland Governor RN Ravi on Wednesday extended warm Bishu greetings to the Kachari community and the people of Nagaland. “This post-harvest festival fosters love, reconciliation and courtesy. It is also a time when the rich spiritual and cultural practices are in full display and the Kacharis rejoice and seek blessings,” Ravi said in his message. Calling on the people to observe all COVID-19 protocols while celebrating the festival, Ravi wished every one “peace, good health and a happy celebration.”
NSCN (R): The NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) through its MIP conveyed greetings to the Kachari/Dimasa on the occasion of ‘Bushu Jiba’ which is celebrated around the last week of January and is the primary festival of the Kachari/Dimasa tribe, who are one of the recognized tribe of Nagaland. The festival does not have a fixed date but is celebrated around a full moon night considered to be auspicious around the last week of January, after the harvesting is done and the barns are filled, it said in the message. “May good tidings continue to prevail upon the Kacharis/Dimasas, and may they be the 'Pathfinders' of Peace amongst the Nagas,” it added.
Chümou landowners not to attend
meeting on land compensation issue
Chümoukedima, January 27 (MExN): The landowners of trio-junction (Khuovarü Bridge) to Puchaspura of NH two-lane 129A Package 1A from Dimapur to Peren through Jalukie have unanimously decided not to attend the meeting on January 28 and 29 called by Chümoukedima 'A' Village Council Secretary. A press release issued by Thepfulhoutuo Shuya, “group leader of 33 landowners Chümoukedima, Dimapur” stated that the Chümoukedima A village authority have not consulted the landowners for land compensation at any point of time nor convened landowner's meeting for discussion. “Till such time, no landowners have transferred the ownership of land and its resources to concern the Chümoukedima 'A' Village Council,” it said. The landowners said that it expects the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur to convene the meeting of land compensation, compensation for trees, embedded buildings/fencing structures, etc. “Without proper consultation, if any work is conducted on this stretch of NH-129A Package 1A, Dimapur to Peren, the landowners shall resort to legal action against the concerned authority,” it cautioned.
‘Stop discrimination against girl child’
Kohima, January 27 (MExN): As part of National Girl's Child Day, the Bright Morning Star Children Home (BMSCH) Kohima organised a programme on January 25 to spread awareness about gender inequality in India. During the programme, BMSCH superintendent Aleno encouraged the children to respect all genders and set a good example in the society. She regretted that girl children in India face a lot of discrimination, humiliation and oppression at every stage of life. In this, she urged the younger generation to be agents of change and stop discrimination against girl child. Marking the occasion, the BMSCH also organised drawing and slogan competition. In junior category, Visakholie Andrew, Dolensangla and Thejavilie stood Ist, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Mezituo Tutu Jack and Thepfülhoutuo Khro bagged Ist and 2nd position respectively in senior category. Judges for the competition included Ruokuo Angami and Abo Puro.
NFHRCC convenes meeting on Jan 30
Dimapur, January 27 (MExN): The Nagaland Foothills Road Co-ordination Committee (NFHRCC) has convened a consultative meet with Dimapur based member tribal hohos on January 30, 10:00 am, at Kher Mahal, Dimapur to deliberate on the issues and progress of the Foothills Road Project.
Informing this in a press release, the committee requested all chairpersons/secretaries of each tribal hoho to attend the meeting positively.
