
KOHIMA, APRIL 24 (MExN): The Nagaland Police have detained two people for fraudulent registration to avail financial aid extended by the Government of Nagaland to citizens stranded outside the State.
The Government of Nagaland has announced a special package under which citizens of Nagaland who are stranded outside the state can avail financial assistance by registering in the iamstranded.nagaland.gov.in web portal.
A press release from the Kohima Police informed that after a complaint was received from the Principal Director, School Education, it was found that two persons residing in Kohima had fraudulently registered in the web portal to avail for financial aid meant only for Nagas stranded outside Nagaland.
The accused were summoned to the Cyber Crime Police Station and later released on personal bond.
The Nagaland Police has further cautioned the public not to use fraudulent means to avail any packages offered by the Government during the COVID-19 pandemic and said that such acts will be liable for penal actions as per the provisions of law.
