Kohima, September 18 (MExN): The Nagaland Police on September 17 announced the launch of two mobile applications — Tenant Registration App and Hotel Registration App — to streamline the submission and certification process of tenants and hotel visitors through one-time password (OTP)-based verification.
The department developed the apps in pursuance of the Notification dated August 14, 2025, by the Home Department for proper implementation and monitoring of Inner Line Permit (ILP) issuance, the State Police informed in an update on its official social media handle.
Tenant Registration App
As per the police, house owners renting out premises must register through the app using OTP-based verification via mobile number. All tenants will require OTP from the landlord for registration, it said.
Tenants can also register and add co-tenants as per the number of persons in a household or family. The details submitted by tenants and co-tenants will be as per existing rules on ILP implementation.
The landlord is responsible for certifying the details, including the number of tenants and co-tenants, with provision to add or remove names in case of change in tenancy, the police added.
Hotel Registration App
Meanwhile, the app will cover all tenants or guests at hotels, guest houses, resorts, homestays, and similar establishments. Owners can register and submit details of tenants or guests through the app, with OTP verification made mandatory for successful submission, the police said.
The police have directed landlords, tenants, hotel and guest house owners to register details by September 21.
Availability and access
The apps can presently be downloaded from the Nagaland Police website (https://police.nagaland.gov.in) and will soon be available on Google Play Store, the update informed.
Besides the link to download the app, a tutiraol was also visible on the website when The Morung Express visited the Nagaland Police website on September 18.
Meanwhile, the police also informed that landlords, tenants or hotel owners can approach the police station in their jurisdiction for any assistance pertaining to the two apps, where they can also obtain the apps or APK files.
Personnel at police stations have been trained for implementation, training, and coordination regarding the apps, it added.
The Nagaland Police also stressed that that no charges or fees are required for registration by anyone using the apps.
