Nagaland’s COVID vaccine roll-out plan

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 14 (MExN): State Immunisation Officer, Dr Ritu Thurr today laid out the schedule and logistics of the vaccination roll-out plan for the State.

In a press release, Dr Thurr informed that the vaccine consignment is being stored at the State Vaccine Store in Kohima at the required temperature and will be strictly maintained as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) during distribution to all the districts. 

Dr Thurr informed that Nagaland has 119 functional cold chain points where temperature is maintained between +2 to+ 8 degrees Celsius and monitored digitally by the electronic vaccine intelligence network and manually by trained technicians and supervisors. These will be used for distribution and storage of the vaccine.

The vaccine will be administered at session sites which have been identified by the District Task Forces under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioners and involving the various departments and community organizations in the respective districts. 

Each session site will have a waiting room, vaccination room and an observation room. Each site will be manned by a team of five Vaccinating Officers. Strict protocol shall be ensured in carrying out the vaccination. The inaugural day vaccination will be at 9 sites in Nagaland. These will be at the District Hospitals in Wokha, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Mon, Zunheboto, Peren, Phek and Naga Hospital Kohima. 

The district wise distribution of vaccines will be strictly as per registration in the COWIN portal. 

The vaccines from the State vaccine store will be sent to all respective district vaccine stores on the day of receipt at the state i.e., January 14 as allocated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. All the vaccines will be maintained at +2 to + 8 degrees Celsius till the vaccine reaches the beneficiary. Security during the transportation will be provided by the Police department.
