Dimapur, September 27 (MExN): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCC) has named Tahmeed Rahman from Nagaland as the captain of the combined North East and Bihar Under-19 team for the forthcoming Inter-State Vinoo Mankad U19 Trophy 2017-18. The combined team also known as the AnA team consists of Tahmeed (captain) and Petenezo Rupreo from Nagaland, Harsh Raj, Sabir Khan, Sonu Gupta, Abishek Anand from Bihar, Akash Choudhury, Arbin Singh, Mukesh Ray, B B Dasgupta from Meghalaya, Jhonson Singh, Rex Singh, and Alfred Hmar from Manipur, Dinesh Dhobi from Sikkim and Chandra Sharma from Arunachal Pradesh. The Nagaland Cricket Association informing this called it “a great honour” for the association to have two of their players listed in the team with Tahmeed being the captain. PB Jamir, Vice President of Nagaland Cricket Association, extended best wishes to both Tahmeed and Petenezo on behalf of the Association. Tahmeed, an alumni of Christian Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur has represented Nagaland U-14, U-16 and U19 teams on regular basis. In 2016, representing the same AnA team he was the highest wicket taker from his team both in the One Day Vinoon Mankad Trophy and in the four day Cooch Behar U19 inter-state trophies and was also listed in the East Zone U19 probables in 2016. Tahmeed also attended two 21 days National Cricket Academy camps in 2016 and 2017. Petenezo Rupreo, an alumni of Hebron Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur has also represented Nagaland U16 and U19 teams and was in the waiting list of the combined team in 2016. Penenezo also attended a 21 day NCA camp in 2016. Both Tahmeed and Petenezo are moving to Bangalore on September 29 to join a preparatory training camp at National Cricket Academy Bangalore from September 30 to October 7 and will then move with the team to play the Vinoon Mankad U19 One Day Inter-State trophy at Dhanbad. The team will play with other teams of the East Zone: Oct 10 vs Assam; Oct 12 vs Orissa; Oct 14 vs Tripura; Oct 16 vs Jharkhand; and Oct 18 vs Bengal.
