NAYO asks govt to supply remote villages

KOHIMA, APRIL 20 (MExN): The Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO) has urged the Government of Nagaland to reach the remote villages with essentials commodities for the basic needs of the people.

A press release from the NAYO also expressed concern at the rush during the opening of groceries because even after repeated appeals from administration, the public are still not maintaining social.

“The public has failed miserably in the norm,” the NAYO said and urged citizens to strictly adhere and comply with this call. It also asked the Police to use stern methods on enforcing this.

It meanwhile asked the government to consider allowing opening of hard-ware stores and garages once or twice a week to meet the public demands and grocery stores to be opened on all working days, rather than on alternate days to maintain social distancing effectively. It also demanded that the village councils exempt farmers and cultivators from the purview of lock-down.The organization also discourage youth from engaging as volunteers in their colonies as it is against the law.

The NAYO directed its unit villages youth organisation to maintain and safeguard their respective villages under NAYO’s jurisdiction.

While lauding the administration and the police for working tirelessly and selflessly during this trying time, it asked the police to use alternative punishment for the defaulters and not to resort to any physical abuses. On the other hand, it asked the citizens to be disciplined and cooperate with the police and administration by staying indoors.

It further urged people to be aware of the COVID-19 symptoms and follow all advisories on isolation and quarantine as directed by the health department, while using safety precautions like hand sanitisers.
