Dimapur, April 18 (MExN): The Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers Union Dimapur District (NCSUDD) today appealed to all citizens to co-operate with the authorities and be responsible citizens by following the guidelines of the lockdown diligently. In a press release appended by NCSUDD President Hotoshe Chophy and General Secretary A Tureng, the Union urged the agencies in charge of the ongoing renovation of the Dimapur COVID-19 hospital and distribution of inadequate personal protection equipments for health workers to “complete the task before it is too late.” The Union also stressed on the need for transparency in supply and distribution of essential commodities stating that it would “stand as a watchdog so that any discrepancy does not arise from both ends.” The concerned department is also reminded to judiciously make use of the free essentials distributed to the citizens as per commitment by central government, the release stated.
Further, it expressed concern on the plight of daily wage earners and business enterprises which depend on daily earnings for their livelihood and suggested that the government “earmark some fund for procurement of essential commodities for them apart from the normal sanction by the department.”
In addition, the NCSUDD expressed its appreciation to all the service providers combating the pandemic including government officials, frontline health workers, police personnel, administration, philanthropic organizations, fourth estate, volunteers, churches and other essential services for their “sacrificial gesture.”
