GoI inviting 6 NNPGs ground-breaking: ENPO

Dimapur, September 28 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) has termed the decision of the Government of India to invite the 6 NNPGs as “ground-breaking". Stating that it was more than encouraged at the decision, the ENPO in a statement expressed that it looked forward with much optimism to the protracted Indo-Naga political issue reaching a political consensus as desired by the people. “The ENPO is hopeful that this forward looking peace process will contribute and accelerate towards bringing a meaningful dialogue and a lasting solution acceptable to all stakeholders,” it stated. In this connection, the ENPO also appealed to the remaining Naga Political Groups for participation in the honorable peace process between the GoI and the Naga Political Groups.  

NNPGs coming together worth appreciating: NGBF

Dimapur, September 28 (MExN): The Nagaland GB Federation has stated that the 6 NNPGs coming together in the form of Working Committee exhibits their seriousness towards people’s appeal for unity and is worth appreciating. A press note from the Federation extended appreciation to the Government of India for inviting the Working Committee of the 6 NNPGs for talk. The inclusion, the federation viewed, is in response to the pleas for inclusion of all groups in the ongoing Talk for permanent peace settlement. The Federation also extended appreciation to the Indian interlocutor RN Ravi for his “conviction and seriousness” to solve the decades old Naga’s issue. The NGBF further expressed gratitude to the Govt. of Nagaland “for facilitating the ongoing Naga Talks” and “appealed” the government to continue till the final solution is arrived. Meanwhile, the NGBF also extended condolences over the sudden demise of former Speaker and MLA, Kiyanilie Peseyie.  

AAP Nagaland to take up Paper Mill issue as priority

Dimapur, September 28 (MExN): The Aam Aadmi Party Nagaland State has informed that it will be taking up the issue of the Paper Mill as top priority. A decision to this effect was taken during the party’s Executive Meeting on September 27 in Dimapur, a press release from the party informed. In this connection, the party will be submitting a memorandum demanding the immediate release of pending bills/salary to the employees and for restarting the paper mill, the release stated. If no action is taken by the State Govt., then the party will start an agitation, it added. The meeting also deliberated on strengthening the party at the grass root level and informed that it will be organizing a State Convention at the earliest. This will be followed by district tours, the release stated.  

AR organizes awareness lectures

Dimapur, September 28 (MExN): The Assam Rifles conducted a series of lectures in schools across the state creating awareness on Drugs and HIV/AIDS and conservation of the endangered migratory bird Amur Falcon. The lectures were held at Govt Middle School Shamator, Fernwood School Kohima, Govt High School Dhansiripar (Dimapur), Vidima Primary School Dimapur, Govt High School Longmatre (Kiphire). Similar lectures were also held at Tseminyu and Anutongre in Kiphire district.  

DDVFAA emergency meeting

Dimapur, September 28 (MExN): The Dimapur District Veterinary Field Assistant Association (DDVFAA) has convened an emergency General Meeting on October 6, 11:00 am at the Treasurer’s residence in Burma Camp, Dimapur. The association informing this stated that members failing to attend the meeting will be dealt with as per its constitution.  

International Day for Older Persons

Kohima, September 28 (MExN): The Department of Social Welfare along with the rest of the world will be celebrating the "International Day for Older Persons" on October 1, 7:00 am at the Conference Hall of the Red Cross building, Kohima. The theme for this year is "Stepping into the future: tapping the talents, contributions and participation of older person in Society". A press release from the Department informing this has solicited the presence of the public in honouring older persons and also acknowledging their contributions towards the society. The day also being a Sunday, all churches are requested to uphold the elderly persons in prayers during devotional services.
