Dimapur, May 8 (MExN): In order to boost their morale, a safety seminar cum awareness programme for NFR’s Loco Pilots of was held at Zonal Railway Training Institute at Alipurduar on May 3. Adequate safety of train operation has been the most pivotal issue concerning running of trains and as the drivers run the train during day and night carrying thousand of passenger to various destinations, their mental as well as physical fitness is of great importance for observing all safety aspects, stated a press release from North East Frontier Railway (NFR). In this connection, the safety seminars are held quite regularly for the counselling of train drivers, it said. The Alipurduar seminar, however, was ‘unique’ as the families of the drivers were invited and they discussed their problems and shared their experiences, it added. 24 families participated in the seminar and more are expected in similar seminars planned in the future. Authorities gave a patient hearing to all issues like need for improvement of staff quarters, better children education etc, the release said, adding, several positive suggestions as well as feedback were also received during the course of discussion. The ultimate objective is to ensure a stress free working condition for drivers, because it is their judgement that the safe operation of train depend, the NFR release further noted.
