NPCC questions govt on ‘unfit’ PPEs

DIMAPUR, APRIL 14 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today expressed shock to learn the PPE supplied to the medical teams are “unfit to attend Covid-19 patients.”

“Supplying sub-standard ‘protective’ equipment in this situation is a crime against humanity,” a press release from the NPCC stated and hoped that the specifications given by the Department were for FFP-3 or N95 masks. “If so, why are sub-standard materials being delivered to Nagaland? Who is responsible?” it questioned.

It further posed questions on the state of the COVID-19 Hospital in Dimapur. “It is said, COVID-designate District Hospital for Dimapur is in a pathetic condition. Even the so called VIP room is unfit. What the Government has been doing all these years has been exposed,” the NPCC questioned.

The Congress expressed shock that the State “knowing fully, they have accepted sub-standard qualities of PPEs.”“They are also fully aware of the unprepared Hospital beds. This is a shame before the Nation. We also do not know about the testing kits. Whether there are any and if so, whether these are sub-standard,” it added

It demanded that the bestPPEs be immediately provided for everyone’s safety; testing laboratories be immediately set up on a war footingand that the salaries of public sector Health Care Teams facing Covid-19 should be doubled for risking their lives and financial assistance packages announced for the private sector healthcare setups to enable continued medical services to the citizens. Further the NPCC observed that the 24 hour wait for test results is too long.
