NPF blames Imkong for OoP fiasco

Dimapur, August 27 (MExN): In the aftermath of the Office of Profit standoff with Opposition Congress Leader I Imkong being given a ‘clean chit’, the NPF has responded to a statement issued by the Congress yesterday by pointing out that Imkong should have shown more maturity and positive attitude rather than using cheap political gimmick and creating confusion, misunderstanding and divisions on the Office of Profit issue.

“Let it be clear to all concerned that that the DAN government never has any ill-will or ill-intention towards anybody including Shri I Imkong, the leader of opposition” General Secretary Akang Ao stated while at the same time asserting that it was not the ruling party MLAs who first filed a petition for disqualification against Imkong but in fact the opposition leader himself who filed against the Chief Minister on March 28.

“When everyone was busy for the North-East Expo at Dimapur, Shri I Imkong, as usual, with his evil designs and scheming of things and in a figment of imagination most probably after seeing the developments in respect of Mrs Sonia Gandhi, MP and Smti Jaya Bachan, MP relating to their disqualification on the issue of profit, must have been carried away and thought that Shri Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland could also be dislodged easily within a day or two like them”.

The NPF stated that in fact the Cabinet “through its magnanimity” in its sitting on March 8, 2006 decided to exempt the Leader of Opposition by bringing him under the said Act but that good gesture was totally sabotaged by no other than Imkong himself by filing the present case against the Chief Minister and blamed Imkong for starting the litigation in the court of Election Commission of India.
