NSCN (IM) calls for ‘strict action as per protocol’

Dimapur, April 14 (MExN):  The NSCN (IM) on Tuesday issued a press release expressing concern on the manner in which the state government has tackled the highly contagious COVID-19 pandemic. Stating that the detection of a positive case has “exposed the contradictory ground reality,” it said that “Nagaland is not fully geared up as claimed by the state government.” “What is more shocking is the snail pace progress of the construction of the COVID-19 Hospital in Dimapur,” it said, adding that shortage of funds should not be the reason “when the Government of India has generously provided hundreds of crores of rupees.”  It also pointed out the “the callous manner” of not sending the patient to the Quarantine Centre “where he can be monitored 24 hours and thereby doing away the risk of infecting others if his case proved otherwise.” “This is a serious lapse that has put the life of many at risk now,” the release stated while adding that not disclosing his travel history and jeopardizing the whole of “is a criminal breach of protocol.” Stating that it is a wakeup call for the PDA government to stand up to its feet and start doing everything on war footing, the NSCN (IM) urged for “strict action as per protocol and not just words.”
