NSCN (IM) clarifies on arrest by Dimapur Police

Dimapur, January 11 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) today denied reports that it cadres were involved in alleged attempt to hijack the SUV vehicle at New Medziphema area on January 8.

A press release from PRO, Dimapur Police on January 10 informed that police arrested four persons belonging to the NSCN (IM) for attempting to hijack a SUV vehicle near New Medziphema area on January 8.

In a rejoinder, the MIP, NSCN (IM) clarified that the incident has nothing to do “with vehicle hijack attempt as given out by the Nagaland state police press release.”

“It is, however, a matter of regret that the police developed a misconceived notion that the NSCN members were attempting to hijack the SUV vehicle. What transpired between the police and the SUV occupants by setting them free after focusing their attention on NSCN cadres?,” it said.

"This is a serious question the police should come out with the answer,” it added.

According to the rejoinder, the four NSCN cadres were dispatched to identify and deal with the situation after its intelligence sources reported that “one particular party inimical to Naga interest” was entering Dimapur with illicit drugs and other illegal items.

“Those four NSCN cadres were dispatched to identify and deal with them (the party) accordingly,” it added.
