The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has informed that relief rice is being sent to all the districts affected by the current lockdown in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
NSDMA Secretary, Lhouchalie Viya informed that the relief rice is being sent to all districts for free distribution by the District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs).
The relief rice will be distributed to homeless stranded people, including migrant labourers, daily wage earners and labourers whose livelihood incomes have been affected.
It will also be provided to old age homes, orphanages, quarantine centers in villages, self-financed government hostels and students whose supply of essential commodities have been affected.
In the first phase, 17, 750 quintals have been distributed.
The DDMA will coordinate with the Urban Local Bodies and the Assistant Director of Supplies in the district to identify genuine and deserving daily wage earners. The DDMA will also coordinate with various village councils to maintain transparency in the distribution of the relief rice.
