The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home department Nagaland has directed all the departments and agencies dealing with sale of essential commodities in the state to take necessary measures to start introducing use of Point of Sale (PoS) swipe machine in places where there is sale of essential commodities.


In office memorandum issued on Saturday, NSDMA secretary Lhouchalie Viya stated that in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak there is a need to discourage cash transaction and promote any kind of online payment system such as Banking cards, USSD, Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS), UPI, Mobile Wallets, Bank pre-paid cards, PoS swipe machine, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app etc.


The office memorandum stated that in general all the banks operating in the state are promoting PoS swipe machine and at a time when there is a need to reduce cash transaction to restrict spread of COVID-19, all the departments and agencies dealing with sale of essential commodities in the state have been directed to take necessary measures to start introducing use of PoS swipe machine in places where there is sale of essential commodities.
