DIMAPUR, APRIL 6 (MExN): The Naga Tribal Union ChümoukedimaTown (NTCUT) today urged the Nagaland State Government and the Home Department to respond to the allegations of “backdoor appointments” in the Police Department.
A press release from the NTUCT said that there has been no response so far on the issue from the high level committee constituted by the Government of Nagaland.
“Had it not been for the COVID-19 lockdown, we are left with no other option but to approach the court of law to seek justice which we tried to avoid lest a law maker and some senior police officers shall surely face legal consequences,” it stated.
It also called upon the Home Minister to direct the DGP to cancel all “backdoor appointments.”
Meanwhile the union expressed gratitude to all organisations and individuals who showed solidarity with the NTUCT.
It acknowledged that “corruption is happening in every known government department in the state of Nagaland.”However, the NTUCT said it is “not in a position to check corruption in every department under the State government of Nagaland at the moment.”
Further, the NTUCT made clear that it“is neither against any tribe nor political party.”
It further expressed disappointment at allegations against organizations, unions, associations and federations etc. fighting against backdoor appointments as targeting only a particular department.
The NTUCT pointed out that organisations like the NSF, CTAN, CEAN, NPRAA, ACAUT and PSAN are also fighting backdoor appointments in different departments.
“Further, there are many other organizations/associations/unions and federations etc. fighting for various corruption cases prevailing under the State government of Nagaland. Are all these for vested interest and only targeting a particular department? Can we still say that all these are a fight for vested interest and targeting a particular department?” it questioned.
“Let us develop positive mind-set and let the good sense prevail upon the Nagas,” the NTUCT appealed.
