NU: SASRD organises Career Counseling Workshop

Medziphema, March 29 (MExN): Four days career counseling workshop was organized by the Counseling & Placement Cell at NU: SASRD from March 24 and 27. The workshop focussed on promotion of Soft Skills, Agri-Entrepreneurship development along with in depth sessions on career orientation towards Agri-Business Management, Civil services exams conducted by UPSC and other competitive exams.  

Total 96 UG and PG students participated in the workshop. The workshop comprised of 08 sessions each of 04 hour duration with 05 resource persons from T.I.M.E, Guwahati.  

The programme envisaged practical sessions on CV building , soft skill development, group discussion, mock interview, quantitative aptitude, data interpretation and data sufficiency, analytical reasoning, verbal ability, reading comprehension, problem solving and decision making, simulation games on team building and leadership development, creating awareness about different avenues of career opportunities available in Agri-allied sectors as well preparation of GRE , GMAT and TOEFL for higher studies abroad. The programme also incorporated a complete session on motivating the students to take up Agri-entrepreneurial ventures so as to make them job providers and not job seekers.  

On the concluding day, Prof. AK Makar, Dean NU: SASRD exhorted the students to take up the challenges ahead in their career with confidence using the learning experiences gained during the workshop.  

Dr. K. K. Jha, I/C Counseling & Placement Cell who planned the sessions of workshop, applauded the students for their whole hearted participation in the workshop. He also thanked Prof. T. Lanusosang, Pro Vice –Chancellor, NU: SASRD for providing all facilities and help needed for organizing the workshop.  

Nzan Mongi, Kikrukhrienuo Rutsa, Saya D., Hisato Sumi of III Yr B.Sc (Ag) and Seroba Sangtam & Watisenla Longkumer of IV Yr B.Sc (Ag) provided feedback that they had great learning experiences during the workshop and such programmes should be conducted once in every semester for the benefit of students.
